How Much Upkeep goes into Having Hair Extensions?
So - you’re thinking of getting hair extensions but you might be wondering,
“How much extra care and attention and I going to have to give to extensions?”
This is an honest and legitimate question! No one wants to add more work and time to their beauty routine.
Not to worry - my goal is to make your life easier AND more beautiful.
While adding hair extensions to your life will require you to make just a few tweaks to your routine, you might be surprised to see that extensions will make your life easier and hair care routine shorter!
Hair extensions can be a great way to add volume, length and color to your hair without having to go through the pain of having to wash and style your hair multiple times a week.
Hair extensions make your life easier by:
Making bad hair days a thing of the past (see my blog post here on this)
Less washing
Less heat styling
That said, what will change and what commitment are you looking at when you get hair extensions (besides committing to being absolutely more fabulous than ever?)
Depending on the type of extensions that you get, your maintaince and upkeep will vary.
To give you a couple examples, my favorite method of extensions are sew-in wefts. The reason I love this method is because the wefts are the easiest and quickest way to add volume as well as length.
Also, once you purchase the hair, you can wear that hair for up to a year!
Your only maintenance is coming to the salon every 5-6 weeks for me to move the weft up toward your scalp from the hair growing out over that 5-6 week period.
This is also a great time to get your color touched up, so it’s killing two birds with one stone.
For bonded keratin extensions (another one of my favorite methods!) most clients come in every 4-5 months to have the hair removed and completely replaced with new extensions.
While this method means you are in the salon less, you will be purchasing new extensions more often.
